Tierra Bravain the heart of the Ninot market, is embarking on a new gastronomic stage.
The restaurant is one of the seven flagships of the Barcelona-based Somos Esencia group, which has been in the sector for more than 30 years.
That a restaurant is located in the heart of the Ninot Market, at 133 Casanova Street, and is called Tierra Brava invites to be discovered because it is a guarantee that their products are truly fresh and seasonal, going only a few meters from the suppliers to the kitchen. In addition, for those who already knew it, the place has just been improved to bring more light to its spacious dining room, a novelty that joins the release of 21 new dishes in its already extensive menu, plus signature cocktails, elements that invite any lover of Mediterranean cuisine.
The copious dishes of Tierra Brava are of quality and avoid any artifice. The maxim of the group Somos Esencia to which the establishment belongs is to make the diner feel in his "other family", thanks to the warmth of a welcoming treatment and the passion in the effort to do things well that guide the family of Xavier Mitats, patriarch who, together with his sons Guillem and Alex, has more than 30 years of experience in the sector.
Thespace at Tierra Brava andits staff make you feel at home, and the dishes achieve the connection between the diner and the local product thanks to an honest gastronomic proposal. The rice dishes are one of its strong points, because they are cooked in a charcoal oven, while among the new dishes the grilled avocado with spiced salmon tartar, which incorporates the unique flavor of Japanese shichimi togarashi, stands out.
Other highlights include white asparagus with truffled hollandaise and Iberian ham, a combination that elevates traditional ingredients with a touch of sophistication, as well as the combination of flavors of the new shrimp ceviche, where the quality of the product and the freshness of each ingredient are evident.
The original steak tartar mini croissant is as exquisite as it is surprising, introducing a delicious umami to the menu, combining the richness of the meat with the softness of the sweet croissant and the contrast of the pickles. Other new options are the red tuna tartar on grilled marrow, which combines the freshness of the fish with a smoky touch; the exquisite grilled scallops with leek cream, or the turbot pilpil with Pyrenean potato chips, which offers a perfect balance between texture and flavor.
In addition, Tierra Brava aims to be the best culinary option for the day to day and, therefore, the establishment offers a lunch menu consisting of three starters, three main courses and two desserts to choose from for 25 euros. It also adds a menu of signature cocktails designed especially for the restaurant with 7 unique references and a renewed live music program that will include the performance of DJ's with vinyl, as well as other musical groups of young talents.
The Somos Esencia group is made up of, in addition to Tierra Brava, the establishments Brisa, Agua, Bar Bauma, Barraca, Fauna Café and GatoPardo, all of them located in spaces with their own character, by the sea or in the Eixample. Some 300 people work there and last year they achieved a turnover of 17 million euros, 20 percent more than in the previous year. And this year the projection continues with the opening in summer of Barraca, with the fish market as culture and coastal rice dishes as a specialty, as well as GatoPardo, bringing Italian tradition to the foot of the Arc de Triomphe, followed by Fauna Café, a cosmopolitan tapas bar surrounded by greenery.
In 2019 the group acquired the oasis facing the Mediterranean that is Agua, next to Tierra Brava, the plating essence of the Ninot market. In 2020 came Brisa Palau de Mar, a garden facing the port with a timeless terrace, good tapas and signature cocktails. After the pandemic parenthesis, in 2023, it was the turn of Bar Bauma, which revived after more than 50 years of history with its famous neighborhood dishes in a place located in front of the Casa de Les Punxes. In any of these seven options, diners will feel like they are in "their own family".
