Tierra Brava, at the heart of the Ninot market, begins a new gastronomic phase
The restaurant is one of seven establishments belonging to the Barcelona-based Somos Esencia group, which has been operating in the sector for over 30 years.

Located in the heart of the Mercat del Ninot, at 133 Casanova Street, Tierra Brava to discover its truly fresh, seasonal products, which travel just a few meters from the suppliers to the kitchen. In addition, for those who already know it, the premises have just been improved to bring more light into its large dining room, a new feature that adds to the launch of 21 new dishes on its already extensive menu, plus signature cocktails, elements that appeal to any lover of Mediterranean cuisine.

The generous dishes at Tierra Brava high quality and free from artifice. The establishment's owner, Grup Somos Esencia, aims to make diners feel as if they were with their "other family," thanks to the warmth of the welcoming service and the passion for doing things well that guides the family of Xavier Mitats, the patriarch who, together with his sons Guillem and Àlex, has more than 30 years of experience in the sector.
The Tierra Brava restaurant Tierra Brava its staff make you feel at home, and the dishes create a connection between the diner and the local produce thanks to an honest gastronomic offering. Rice dishes are one of their strong points, as they are cooked in a charcoal oven, while new dishes include grilled avocado with spiced salmon tartare, which incorporates the unique flavor of Japanese shichimi togarashi.
Also noteworthy are the white asparagus with truffle hollandaise and Iberian ham, a combination that elevates traditional ingredients with a touch of sophistication, as well as the combination of flavors in the new shrimp ceviche, where the quality of the product and the freshness of each ingredient are evident.

The original mini steak tartare croissant is as exquisite as it is surprising, introducing delicious umami to the menu, combining the richness of the meat with the softness of the sweet croissant and the contrast of the mushrooms. Other new options include grilled red tuna tartare on bone marrow, which combines the freshness of the fish with a smoky touch; delicious grilled scallops with leek cream; and turbot pil-pil with Pyrenean potato chips, which offers a perfect balance between texture and flavor.

In addition, Tierra Brava to be the best culinary option for everyday dining and, for this reason, the establishment offers a lunch menu consisting of three starters, three main courses, and two desserts to choose from for €25. There is also a signature cocktail menu designed especially for the restaurant, with seven unique drinks and one revamped option. The live music program will include performances by vinyl DJs, as well as other musical groups featuring young talent.

The Somos Esencia group includes, in addition to Tierra Brava, the establishments Brisa, Agua, Bar Bauma, Barraca, Fauna Café, and GatoPardo, all located in unique spaces, either by the sea or in the Eixample district. Around 300 people work there and last year they managed to generate a turnover of €17 million, 20 percent more than in the previous year. And this year, the project continues with the opening of Barraca in the summer, with the fish market as its culture and coastal rice as its specialty, as well as GatoPardo, bringing Italian tradition to the foot of the Arc de Triomf, followed by Fauna Café, a cosmopolitan tapas bar surrounded by greenery.
In 2019, the group acquired Agua, an oasis overlooking the Mediterranean, along with Tierra Brava, the silver essence of the Ninot market. In 2020, Brisa Palau de Mar arrived, a garden in front of the port with a timeless terrace, good food, and signature cocktails. After the pandemic hiatus, 2023 saw the return of Bar Bauma, which was revived after more than 50 years of history with its famous neighborhood dishes in a location opposite the Casa de Les Punxes. At any of these seven options, diners will feel as if they are with "their other family."
