The Barcelona family group Somos Esencia will open two new restaurants this year.

In 2023, it grew by 18% to 17 million, and this year it is expected to reach over 30 million.

The Barcelona family group Somos Esencia is stepping on the gas. Dedicated to restoration, it saw its revenue grow by almost 18% in 2023, reaching €17 million. In 2024, it expects to reach around €30 million in a year marked by growth. In February, it renovated a city classic, the Bauma tapas bar, located very close to the Casa de les Punxes.

In the coming months, it plans to launch two more new locations. It will be a milestone for a young project founded by one of Tragaluz's former partners, Xavier Mitats. When the Miura fund became the majority shareholder of Tragaluz in 2019, Mitats wanted to set up a new group based on Agua, a restaurant that already exists and that did not join the operation.

At the beginning of 2020, just before the outbreak of Covid, the second store, Tierra Brava, opened at the Mercat del Ninot, and at the end of that year, even with many restrictions, it was Brisa's turn, in the Palau de Mar. In Barceloneta, they also have Barraca. "We are in very well-located locations, some restaurants are our own and others we manage, but we are always shareholders," explains Álex Mitats, of the second generation. He has just joined the family business as CEO.
