We are Essence is proud to present its latest gastronomic project for 2023, BAUMA (c/ de Roger de Llíria, 124, 1-1), a culinary gem with a rich Catalan heritage. *We are Essence Acquire Barcelona's iconic bar, which has been a pillar of the local gastronomic scene since its opening in the 1940s and will open its doors in December.

The founder of BAUMA — the grandfather of the current owner, Joan Altarriba Águila — opened this classic establishment after World War II, and since then it has been a meeting place for generations of food lovers. Part of the bar has retained its 1950s décor, offering guests an authentic and nostalgic experience of the city of Barcelona. BAUMA not only has the neighborhood changed and grown, but it has also welcomed a diverse and distinguished clientele, including politicians, actors, writers, and literary figures who have left their mark on this iconic place. Joan Altarriba Aguila, who started working in the bar at the age of 25, has been the guardian of culinary tradition for decades. Fifty years after its opening, BAUMA joins the *Somos Esencia gastronomic group, which shares a deep respect for Catalan gastronomic heritage and a passion for its preservation.
